For the cinematic launch of Valorant Episode 2 I led the creative direction alongside my partner in crime, Eddie Kim, to seamlessly integrate several new content being added to the game. The goal of the cinematic was to continue expanding and evolving the game’s universe while introducing Yoru, our first Japanese character, as well as Icebox, the latest new map after the game’s launch. As an answer we follow the story of Yoru and Phoenix—and all the banter between the two— leading a mission into the map, where mysterious radianite readings are raising interest of other agents across the globe. Later on, to support this campaign, we launched Yoru’s individual gameplay trailer aimed at bringing his personality forth and giving players a taste of his kit, as well as a Spotify playlist that helped players “feel” the character’s personality and traits.

To this date this campaign remains one of the most successful VALORANT campaigns, setting the bar and standard to episodical releases and character reveals while ranking among the top 5 most organic viewed content (11 million views) on owned channels.
